Ensures room isolation during fluid transfer

A US patent has been awarded to AdvantaPass, a cleanroom wall pass-through system designed to transfer fluids between cleanrooms during pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical production, manufactured by US company AdvantaPure.

The system is said to be the first of its kind to provide complete isolation between manufacturing suites when transferring multiple fluid lines through a single wall portal.

AdvantaPass combines single-use tubing, connectors and seals with permanent, wall-mounted stainless steel components to eliminate cleaning validations associated with cleanroom protocols.

Using a single portal for more than one transfer line is part of why AdvantaPass was awarded the patent from the US Patent and Trademark Office. No other system is designed to manage more than one line per wall portal without breaking protocol and risking room or product contamination.

'Combining the durability and dependability of stainless steel parts with the purity, ease of use and cost-effectiveness of single-use components offers several advantages,' said Tony Butler, Manager of Single-Use Applications for AdvantaPure.

'AdvantaPass involves fewer moving parts and less maintenance than similar systems, and it’s easy to assemble and disassemble. It’s customisable and can be used with new construction or retrofitted.'

Another benefit of AdvantaPass is that it saves time and expense compared with the sterilisation and validation requirements of traditional hard piping transfer systems. Its single-use tubing and components are available in platinum-cured silicone or AdvantaFlex biopharmaceutical grade thermoplastic elastomer (TPE).
