Items attached to electronic devices often overlooked as an infection risk

It has long been accepted that embedding an antimicrobial additive such as silver into electronic devices in the cleanroom and other controlled environments can reduce the risk of cross-contamination; however, the attached cables and connectors have typically been overlooked as an infection risk.

A full solution is now available through leading antimicrobial brand SteriTouch and its customers. Through a continued partnership with Contour Electronics, associated cables and connectors can be manufactured using antimicrobial additives, creating a range of products with a lifelong efficacy against bacteria such as MRSA, E.Coli and Salmonella.

Contour Electronics has a 200m2 ISO14644 Class 7 cleanroom specifically for the manufacture of cable assemblies and electronic assemblies for the medical industry.

Meanwhile, for companies looking for a total solution, printing specialist Denny Bros Group offers labels and stickers utilising a silver-based liquid additive from SteriTouch. A floodcoat can be applied to stickers and labels, allowing any legislative or other necessary information required to be offered as an antimicrobial option.

Leading air pressure system manufacturer Apreco uses SteriTouch protection for its range of stabilisers, along with several paint manufacturers including Tor Coatings, which offers Torsan, a commercial wall coating with an excellent anti-mould and antibacterial performance.
