Cleanroom robots market to grow at 5.39% CAGR to 2020

Published: 9-Jun-2016

Driven by the high requirement for contaminant-free machines and equipment

The global cleanroom robots market is set to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.39% between 2016–2020, according to a new report published by RnR Market Research.

The report, Global Cleanroom Robots Market 2016-2020, says a key growth driver is the high requirement for contaminant-free machines and equipment. Cleanroom robots have been engineered to minimise particulate emission and are usually made of corrosive resistant materials. They are also placed below the substrate to prevent surface contamination. They have internal wiring and cabling to prevent entanglement and also subsequent particle emission. They have few mobile parts to prevent generation of particulate and dust during movements.

One trend that will boost market growth will be the development of IoT and technological enhancements in robotics. The high demand and use of smart devices, wireless, and Cloud technology will influence the future of robots in terms of range of utility and mode of operation. With rising competition, vendors are offering attractive options, such as services and control modules, through smart devices and Wi-Fi technology for industrial robots, including cleanroom robots from remote locations.

But one challenge that could restrict market growth is the high system engineering and installation costs, which make end-users cautious while making new investments.

The report covers the market landscape and its growth prospects over the coming years. It also includes a discussion of the key vendors operating in the cleanroom market, namely, ABB, FANUC, KUKA, Yamaha Robotics and Yaskawa Electric.
