Additional space will be used for device assembly, ultrasonic welding and packaging operations

Command Medical Products, a US contract manufacturer of medical devices based in Ormond Beach, Florida, has doubled cleanroom manufacturing space in its Managua, Nicaragua facility. Construction has been completed on the additional ISO Class 7 cleanroom (Class 10,000), which was certified operational last November. The company will use the additional space for device assembly, ultrasonic welding and packaging operations. Radio frequency (RF) welding will also commence in this cleanroom once installation and qualification of the new capital equipment is completed in the first quarter of this year.

'Command has experienced tremendous growth in 2014,' said Stephanie McGee, Director of Sales and Marketing.

'Expanding our cleanroom capacity in Nicaragua and optimising our operations in both Florida and Nicaragua has allowed the company to meet increased demands and also plan for continued growth in 2015.'

Founded in 1987, Command's core competencies include extrusion of plastics tubing, RF welding, assembly and packaging services as well as management of injection moulding and sterilisation services.
