Cutting Corners reduces hibernation of bacteria in cleanrooms

Cleanroom and controlled environments that require the installation of vinyl are now able to benefit from two new concepts that will reduce bacteria and contaminants by creating a consistent, radiused, internal vinyl trimitre.

Using Cutting Corners’ pre-formed seamless Trimitre prior to installation with the firm’s Mitre Maker provides a smooth, snag-free internal trimitre, which looks good and eliminates kinks and creases. The finished trimitre can then be hot welded with relative ease, therefore leaving less opportunity for bacteria and other contaminants to hibernate and multiply.

The Trimitre and Mitre Maker were developed to standardise vinyl internal mitres: the Trimitre replaces the inconsistent, archaic way of cutting and trimming a cove former in an attempt to achieve a free-handed version of a trimitre; and the Mitre Maker provides a tool to replace the old fashioned, free handed way of installing vinyl at internal wall to ceiling trimitres within cleanrooms or any other controlled environments.

Cutting Corners has devised its own installation methods since no precise guidelines are laid down to comply with ISO 14644-4, which states that: “Corners and junctions may be radiused, especially at floor-to-wall and wall-to-wall junctions, so that effective cleaning is facilitated.”

Generally, free-handing the cove former to produce the radiused corner does this, which is neither consistent nor uniform, but is deemed acceptable in that they are sufficient and serve the purpose.

When both Cutting Corners’ new concepts are used this is not left to chance and promotes an internal vinyl trimitre, which is uniform, consistent and provides a surface that inhibits the growth and hibernation of bacterium and other contaminants.
