The four-storey ward and theatre block will be constructed using a modular system

Elliott Off-Site Building Solutions has picked up a £10m design and build project at King’s College Hospital in London. Elliott is principal contractor on the construction programme that is scheduled to complete in just 24 weeks.

A high performance volumetric steel structure will be built to ensure minimal deflection in all areas with concrete floors for operating theatres. Elliott is providing a full turnkey solution that involves working with long-term partner Howorth Air Technology, the leading air management & operating equipment manufacturer, on the theatre design and fitout.

Jason Dodd, head of projects from King’s College Hospital, said: “Elliott was able to provide us with a full turnkey solution within the strict 24 week build schedule. “We were impressed with how their ‘Progression’ modular system is able to keep disruption to a minimum, which is important on this development as the main hospital has to remain open and accessible for the duration.”

Ben Pemberton, Sector Leader for Healthcare at Elliott Off-Site Building Solutions, said: “We have utilised our modular system on many other healthcare developments and are confident of delivering a successful project outcome.” He added that construction would start shortly.
