The company offers a hand hygiene system that combines RF technology, proximity sensors and an IT platform to provide outcomes data

HyGreen, a US hand hygiene monitoring specialist based in Gainesville, FL, has signed a distribution agreement and partnership with Sinapsis Medical Technologies in Istanbul, Turkey.

Each year, hundreds of millions of patients around the world are affected by healthcare-associated infections as organisms are transmitted from patient to patient through the unwashed hands of healthcare workers. To help combat these infections, the HyGreen system actively reminds healthcare workers if they forget to wash their hands before patient contact and wirelessly records every time they wash their hands in the hospital.

The HyGreen system promotes good hand hygiene habits with real time correction on an individual basis prior to patient contact

The HyGreen hand hygiene system combines RF technology, proximity sensors, and an advanced IT platform to provide sophisticated outcomes data. Some of the benefits of the HyGreen system include improved quality of care, shorter hospital stays, decreased recidivism, decreased rates of nosocomial infections and overall increased revenue for hospitals, the company says.

Sinapsis Medical has registered the HyGreen product line into Turkey's Ministry of Health purchasing database. This registration is a critical step in meeting eligibility requirements and acceptance in more than 1,200 hospitals in Turkey. Sinapsis has additional distribution channels in the Balkans, Switzerland and Germany. Cross training of sales and engineering teams are complete and demonstrations are in process.

Ron Youngblood, President of HyGreen, said: 'It is well established that healthcare workers are the principal cause of transmission of infection from patient to patient. The HyGreen system promotes good hand hygiene habits with real time correction on an individual basis prior to patient contact.'
