Kimberly-Clark Professional introduces door handle disinfector

The latest cleaning product from Kimberly-Clark Professional aims to solve the potential problem of infection caused by the bacteria that are left behind on washroom door handles.
The Kimberly-Clark Professional automatic door handle disinfector was created by HYSO, a privately owned company based in New Jersey in the US. Kimberly-Clark Professional has agreed an exclusive global distribution with HYSO.
The product will be available to US customers in September.
Kimberly-Clark Professional claims the product safely and effectively kills 99.9% of germs and viruses on the entire door handle, including the underside. It does so by using a quick-drying Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-registered, hospital-grade alcohol-based disinfectant mist.
This mist is dispensed in a precise fashion and the frequency of the spray intervals can be selected from three different time settings.
Kimberly-Clark Professional says the automatic door handle disinfector can be used on virtually any door. It is easy to install and maintain. Refill canisters can be replaced in seconds and are fully recyclable. They last up to 100 days and ambient light sensors help extend battery and canister life.
Other features include sensors to prevent the device from accidentally spraying someone’s hands, precision-engineered technology to ensure a precise dose with every spray, and an LCD display that makes it easy to see when batteries need replacing.
The product is the latest addition to The Healthy Workplace Project, a Kimberly-Clark Professional initiative designed to stop the spread of germs through an innovative approach to hand and surface hygiene.
