Bench-mounted containment hood comes is supplied in five modes

Containment Technology Services Europe (CTS), based in Havant, Hampshire, UK, took top prize at the Lions’ Lair competition held on the first day of the Lab Innovations show with its Lab-Bubble, a new type of bench mounted containment hood.

During the Dragons’ Den-inspired feature at the exhibition at the NEC, Birmingham, four companies pitched their newest technologies to an expert panel, which included Kirsty Holmes, Laboratory Manager at Bernard Matthews, Jay Bhatta, Analytical Chemist at Premier Foods, Julian South, Head of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Campden BRI, and Phil Prime, editor of Laboratory News.

Lab-Bubble is a re-circulatory hood for the general laboratory market, which comes in five modes for general safety, chemical handling and weighing, PCR, biological cabinet function, glove box and climatic control environments.

Holmes said: “As judges we were all coming at this from different angles, and yet we were unanimous, each of us felt it was the product we were most excited about.”

Sean Codling, managing director of CTS Europe, said: “As a new company we are absolutely thrilled, what a great launch for the product and a great boost for us.

“It’s a ringing endorsement for the fantastic CTS team – not least our tremendous design engineer, Joshua Lanzon-Miller.”
