PBSC opts for Bioquell’s decon system

PBSC, a leading supplier of pass-through cabinets and material air locks (MAL), has selected to use the hydrogen peroxide vapour (HPV) system from Bioquell.

“At an early stage we identified Bioquell with their leading technology in vaporised hydrogen peroxide sterilisation as the company we wanted to work with”, said Peter Bloomer of PBSC. This combination offers the benefits of PBSC’s renowned quality and performance together with leading bio-decontamination technology from Bioquell.

The result is optimum decontamination at below 30°C with a cycle time of approximately one-hour (load dependent). This system achieves a 6-log reduction or 99.9999% reduction of bacteria (using G.stearothermophilus spores) validated during gas cycle development.

The vaporised hydrogen peroxide MAL is manufactured in module format for quick and easy installation into existing facilities and laboratories without lengthy and expensive downtime. The units are manufactured from 304 or 316L grade stainless steel and incorporate PBSC’s proven inflatable seal doors.

The decontamination airlocks are fitted flush to the floor allowing easy access for wheeled items and doing away with the trip hazard of a raised threshold or the need for a pit. The control system continually monitors the integrity of all seals and with no ducting or venting required the sterilisation chamber needs only power and compressed air services.

With a cycle time of approximately one hour, PBSC decontamination MAL units are ideally suited for the transfer of materials requiring bio-decontamination. The hydrogen peroxide vapour is compatible with most materials and leaves no post process residue. In combination with the low processing temperature, it is ideal for computers, electronic equipment, heat sensitive materials and other non-autoclavable items.
