VWR International acquires Basan UK
Adds to takeover of basan GmbH, Germany in 2012
VWR International, a global provider of laboratory supplies, equipment and services, has acquired Basan UK, a distributor of cleanroom products and services. The transaction builds on VWR's purchase of basan GmbH, headquartered in Germany, last year.
Basan UK distributes a number of well-known brands to various industries across the UK including pharmaceuticals, microelectronics, semi-conductors and medical devices.
“Basan is a well-respected distributor of cleanroom products and repacking services in the UK. This agreement complements the acquisition of basan GmbH in Germany and allows VWR to further extend our cleanroom supplies capabilities across Europe,” said Manuel Brocke-Benz, VWR's President and CEO.
No financial details of the acquisition have been revealed.
VWR International, headquartered in Radnor, Pennsylvania, is a global laboratory supply and distribution company with worldwide sales in excess of US$4.1bn in 2012.
