The US-based global colour masterbatch & additive manufacturer has planned the 60,000 sqft expansion that includes six new compounding lines

Americhem has broken ground on its Morrisville, PA, plant expansion. The US-based global colour masterbatch & additive manufacturer hosted the groundbreaking ceremony on 2 October.

The 60,000 sqft expansion will include an isolated 20,000 sqft "clean compounding" room that will house up to six new compounding lines. This clean environment, coupled with Americhem's already existing ISO 13485 Certification, Formulation Control, Change Management Procedures and Regulatory Support Documentation, gives Americhem Engineered Compounds the capabilities to produce compounds that meet the most stringent medical device requirements.

A new customer centre is also included in the expansion to facilitate technical meetings.

"We continue to see significant opportunities to grow our existing segments and diversify into new segments," said Jim Figaniak, VP & General Manager of Americhem Engineered Compounds. "Americhem Engineered Compounds has become a polymeric solution providing leader in the medical industry over the past few years. To continue supporting this growth, our current customers, and influx of new customers, a plant expansion was the next strategic move to make."
