Contec continues its focus on safe practices within the workplace and was recently awarded a 2015 Certificate of Safety Achievement by the State of South Carolina’s Labor, Licensing, and Regulation Department 'for outstanding efforts in the promotion of Industrial Safety and Health, with such efforts resulting in the lessening of human suffering and the reduction of economic waste 1.2 million hours without a lost time injury or illness'.

'We are happy to see growing employee participation in safety, especially because the health and well-being of our employees is our top priority,' says Avi Lawrence, President of Contec. 'This is a significant accomplishment and it would not be possible without every individual’s participation and dedication to safety.'

Contec has implemented a behaviour-based, employee-driven safety process. This was accomplished by engaging employee involvement with a participation goal of 100%. As part of the process Contec created its 'I Care' programme, which allows employees to identify potential safety hazards, so that continuous improvements can be made. Safety communication has been improved through daily safety updates, company-wide safety meetings and monthly educational safety newsletters.

Contec has made the process of safety fun through participation in milestone celebrations, safety slogan submissions and employee-led walkthroughs that encourage the individual to take pride in one’s own workplace safety.

'This could not have been accomplished without employees who care about the safety of themselves and their coworkers. We are thankful to have people who give it their all when it comes to being safe.' says Chris Roman, Director of Safety and Quality.

'Our goal is 100% employee participation and we are constantly looking for ways to improve our safety practices,' says Geoff Lester, Contec’s Environmental Health and Safety Manager.
