Cleaning specialist has signed a three-year agreement with Aarhus University Hospital

Elite Miljo, a Danish cleaning specialist, has been awarded a three-year cleaning contract with Aarhus University Hospital in Skejby. The contract, effective 1 October 2018, will also see Elite Miljo provide training to full-time staff employed for more than 25 hours a week.

"The cleaning at the former Skejby Hospital is of high quality, and working conditions are generally characterised by good cooperation between the hospital and committed employees and leaders in Elite Environment. We look forward to continuing the collaboration with Elite Environment, commented Henrik Bech Nielsen, director of Aarhus University Hospital.

In April 2017, the Regional Council decided that the contracted cleaning at the former Skejby Hospital should be offered for a three-year period with the possibility of renewal for two or two years.

The contract is result of a rigorous tender auctioned by Aarhus University Hospital, with quality and economy weighting 50% each. The quality has been assessed on subcriteria such as management, organisation, plans for replacement, quality in cleaning and work environment.

Aarhus University Hospital has made demands on the level of cleaning and the contract is based on the latest national infection hygiene guidelines and requirements for cleaning. In addition, the contract requires that the cleaning staff be hired on a collective basis and that the company focuses on the employee's wellbeing.

During the first two-and-a-half years of the term of the contract, Elite Environment must ensure that all permanent employees with more than 25 hours a week are trained. The training for cleaning technicians lasts 18 months, and after six months of education the staff can become a service assistant.

The former Skejby Hospital comprises approximately 156,000 square-metre of Aarhus University Hospital. The cleaning has been outsourced since 2001.
