UVGI products deliver enhanced environmental decontamination of surfaces and airborne microorganisms in HVAC systems

E-CO, the UK specialist in high-output ultraviolet germicidal solutions for HVAC systems, has gained endorsement from the Infection Prevention Society (IPS) for its ultraviolet germicidal irradiation technology. The IPS seal of approval follows a rigorous process of evaluation by an IPS expert panel who assessed E-CO's high-intensity germicidal UVGI products.

Hillary Spicer, CEO at E-CO, commented: "We are thrilled to have been officially endorsed by the IPS. The need for reduction of airborne distribution of bacteria, viruses and moulds and effective surface decontamination is now well recognised."

E-CO's suite of UVGI products have been designed for enhanced environmental decontamination of surfaces and to reduce the redistribution of airborne microorganisms spread air-conditioning and ventilation systems. "We hope this latest endorsement in our UVGI products will help inform the conversation amongst infection control professionals to address such transmission through ventilation and air-conditioning systems," he added.

A European supplier of UVGI solutions, E-CO is the exclusive distributor of Steril-Aire in the UK. Working with the product, E-CO implements indoor air quality improvement strategies and programmes for healthcare providers as well as commercial, military and institutional premises.

"Our UVGI arrays can be installed into air conditioning systems, fixed as ceiling units to decontaminate rooms when unoccupied, or mobile units that can be moved from one area to another," Spicer explained.

E-CO's UVGI arrays are proven to decrease patient, visitor and medical staffs’ exposure to pathogens, lessening the risk of contracting infections, (HCAIs), and helping to reduce both bed occupancy and antibiotic use.
