Endress+Hauser launches self-calibrating temperature probe

New TrustSens TM371 is designed to provide fully automated inline self-calibration without process interruption

TrustSens TM371 is the latest launch by Endress+Hauser. The unit’s temperature sensor features original technology that provides fully automated inline self-calibration without process interruption.

Trustsens is fully compliant with FDA and GMP regulations and is designed for use in hygienic and aseptic applications within the life sciences and food and beverage industries.

The manufacturer said the new sensor’s self-calibration function saves time and costs, and increases plant efficiency, as there is no need to stop production or remove the instrument to perform a calibration.

In a statement, the company explained: “By automating this time-consuming task, Trustsens can also help to reduce the risk of product wastage as instrument drift is quickly detected.”

This sensor contains both an accurate PT100 temperature element and a separate, highly stable reference located at the probe tip.

When the instrument observes 118°C, a temperature typically seen during SIP cleaning cycles as part of a cooling cycle, the measured temperature is compared against the neighbouring reference to check its accuracy.

At the same time, an audit-compliant calibration certificate is digitally produced and stored within the temperature probe, ready to be downloaded at any time across HART communication using the free Endress+Hauser Devicecare software or the more advanced Fieldcare software.

The unit can store up to 350 entries so it allows the user to access a long calibration history of the instrument. Each calibration is traceable to the ITS-90 International Temperature Scale, and each Trustsens unit is supplied ex-works with a calibration certificate showing this calibration chain.

Headquartered in Switzerland, Endress+Hauser is a global supplier of products, solutions and services for industrial process measurement and automation.
