LTE Scientific of Oldham, UK has won a £600,000 contract to equip the new £60.6m Easter Bush Research Consortium (EBRC) building in Edinburgh, Scotland with six autoclaves. The building, when it opens in March 2011, will be home to 500 researchers from The Roslin Institute, University of Edinburgh and the Scottish Agricultural College.

According to David Mann, project manager for EBRC, two large (6000L) autoclaves are due for installation around April 2010, with the four smaller autoclaves (ranging from 400–600L) scheduled for later in the year. The 6000L units have chambers of 2200mm x 1200mm x 2275mm.

“The autoclaves will be used as sterilisers, forming part of the laboratory support services for The Roslin Institute, which carries out research on the health and welfare of animals, and applications of basic animal sciences in human and veterinary medicine, the livestock industry and food security,” he said.
“We are looking forward to working with the EBRC team and ensuring that we provide a sterilisation facility we can all be very proud of,” added Jonathan Pass, LTE’s area sales manager.

LTE Scientific manufactures autoclaves from 30L capacity and serves the laboratory and medical sectors. www.lte-scientific.co.uk www.ebrc.ac.uk
