Merck introduces Mobius Power MIX 2000 for hard-to-mix biopharm ingredients

Strong vortex effectively mixes buffers and culture media powders that tend to sink or float, as well as other difficult-to-mix biopharm ingredients

Merck KGaA has launched the Mobius Power MIX 2000 for difficult-to-mix biopharma ingredients, such as buffers, culture media powders and other pharma ingredients. Primary benefits of the single-use mixing system include effectively mixing of buffers and culture media powers, easy bag loading, and a reusable standard probe for in-process pH measurement.

The Mobius Power MIX achieves a strong vortex using an impeller design and motor based on magnetically-coupled NovAseptic technology, a proven mixing technology in stainless steel tanks. The Power MIX 2000 provides accessible, sterile zero deadleg sampling directly from the mixing container.

A Probe Port allows for insertion of either a reusable probe for non-aseptic processes or a pre-sterilised, single-use sensor for in-process pH measurement of aseptic processes. Other design features make the mixing system easy to use, enabling the loading of bags by one person and offering an optional integrated hoist for powder delivery.

Key benefits of the Power MIX 2000 include:

  • Strong vortex effectively mixes buffers and culture media powders that tend to sink or float, as well as other difficult-to-mix biopharm ingredients
  • Double doors open to one-half the mixer diameter combined with off-set drain allow for easy bag loading
  • Accessible sterile deadleg sampling directly from the mixing container
  • Reusable standard probe or a pre-sterilised single-use sensor for in-process pH measurement

The Mobius Power MIX 2000 system provides the industry's broadest working volume from 300 to 2,000 litres for processing flexibility. The new mixing system builds on Merck's industry-leading portfolio of Mobius single-use solutions for upstream and downstream processing.
