Massive investment likely subject to definitive agreements and local government permits

US-based Regeneron Pharmaceuticals is reported to be interested in taking over the former manufacturing facility of Dell in Limerick, Ireland. It is believed that a deal has been agreed in principle. The company plans to renovate the 400,000ft2 facility for pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Reports in the Irish Sunday Independent said that Regeneron has confirmed in a Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filing in the US that, subject to entering into definitive agreements as well as securing permits from the local government in Limerick, it intends to invest hundreds of millions of dollars in Limerick by taking over the former manufacturing facility of Dell.

Regeneron has its current manufacturing facility in Rensselaer, New York and has not specified what it plans to manufacture in Ireland.

Dell halted production in the plant in 2009 when it shifted production to Poland to take advantage of lower costs.
