Raumedic, a German developer and supplier of polymer-based components to the medical device and pharmaceutical industries, is expanding by building a new €26m technology centre at its headquarters in Helmbrechts, Bavaria.
The expansion consists of 2,250m2 of cleanroom production, supplemented by laboratories and jobs in research and development, marketing and sales, quality management and regulatory affairs.
In the medium-term, Raumedic will create 190 new jobs at the facility, which will be able to handle customer-specific plastic components using precision injection moulding and fully automated assembly.
At the same time, space will be created in the former cleanroom production facility for the expansion of extrusion capacities for thermoplastics.
The company says the extension work is almost complete and the offices are now occupied. The lab has started work and the production team has begun moving into the cleanrooms.
In addition, the first systems for the automated manufacture of injection systems, which have a fully-automated assembly and packaging process and are individually tested, have already gone into operation.
The new facility will be officially opened later this month. The firm will then have almost 8,000m2 of cleanroom space in line with ISO 14644, Class 7, to be used for the manufacture of specific polymer products.
Raumedic announced in June that it is also expanding its international presence with the creation of a new US$27.1m production and technology centre in Mills River, North Carolina, US, which will be opened by the end of the year.
