Company claims high-efficiency photolithography tube is a world first

Lextar Electronics Corporation of Taiwan has introduced what it claims to be the world’s first high-efficiency photolithography LED light tube for cleanrooms. The tube combines a special LED and a specially made light tube lens with cut-off filters.

Lextar says the LED can filter wavelengths of less than 500nm and its efficiency is double that of similar tubes made with amber LED.

It is the ideal lighting product for cleanrooms, saving 50% of energy compared with traditional light tubes, the company says. If 100 LED light tubes are used for 24 hours of lighting a day, savings will come to US$200 a month.

The cleanroom LED also has a lifetime of 40,000 hours, which is 7 to 10 times longer than a traditional tube.

Lextar Electronics Corporation, part of the BenQ Group, was founded in May 2008. It specialises in manufacturing LED epi wafers, chips and packages, as well as energy-saving and smart lighting products. The company employs more than 2,100 people. Its headquarters are in the Hsinchu Science Park, Taiwan.
