Sitting down comfortably on the job

Hygiene comes with comfort with Teknomek’s new ranges of cleanrooms chairs

Teknomek’s new Class 7 cleanroom certified chairs have been developed to combine the hygienic and the ergonomic. The range includes chairs, stools and saddle seats with anti-microbial and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) variants available. In addition, the company has also launched new stools and a sit stand certified to the ISO14644-1 Class 5 cleanroom standard.

Sue Springett, commercial manager at Teknomek, says: “Just because hygiene always comes first in the cleanroom doesn’t mean users shouldn’t be able to spend their shift in comfort. Our new chairs and stools will make everyone – the user, compliance and finance – all sigh with relief.”

Each chair balances comfort with support, rugged – yet soft to touch – polyurethane (PU) or hard-wearing vinyl upholstery. The adjustable back rest is built to the same high standard and the chairs also offer smooth height adjustment and seat tilt features.

Springett adds: “Each aspect of the design is highly considered and puts ergonomics first. For example, even the process of changing the set-up puts the user first, ever lever and knob is within easy reach and intuitive. At Teknomek the devil is in the detail and although these aren’t the types of features you might normally consider when choosing a chair, the difference they make is palpable.”

The SECH-AL series of chairs are made of anti-microbial vinyl, making them water and stain repellent. As well as being “cleanroom tough”, they are bleach cleanable and their intelligent design, for example using rounded prongs and a high base, further increases their ‘cleanability’. As well as ergonomics, aesthetics has also been taken into consideration and each is available in four colours, noir, marina, seal and sapphire, providing options to meet the end user’s colour scheme.

Their BSEN61340-5-1 certified ESD counterparts the SECH-VE chairs feature a conductive stool when used with ESD flooring or matting.

Both SECH-AL and SECH-VE ranges offer chrome, scratch-resistant bases supporting interchangeable push-fit castors and glides. Offering a low or high sealed chrome gas-lift column, the chairs are height adjustable from 420-530mm for low and 590- 830mm for high.

The cleanroom Class 7 range chairs are fully customisable, offering options such as high backs, different caster, glide and arm options. Further add-ons including an independent seat tilt and a synchro mechanism are available separately.

The SEST-AL and SEST-VL, ESD variant, series of stools and saddle seats are made of anti-microbial and anti-static vinyl respectively. Each offer an aluminium, five-branch scuff-resistance base with easily changeable antistatic glides or castors. The stools use a low or high aluminium sealed gas-lift column and can be adjusted from 420-530mm for low and 590-830mm for high. In addition, the saddle has a tilt seat.

Finally, the SEST and SESU stools and sit-stand series are certified for Class 5 cleanrooms according to ISO14644-1 standard and can be fitted with optional ESD soft wheels meeting the BSEN61340-5-1 certification.

Springett concludes: “The old adage you shouldn’t sit down on the job doesn’t hold water in this sector. When you’re spending eight hours on a shift, you really do need to be comfortable and these chairs unquestionably meet that requirement. Moreover, they are highly modular and that means you can always specify exactly the right chair for the job.”
