Ziehl-Abegg gains AMCA seal of approval

The German manufacturer of ventilation products has received the AMCA endorsement for consistent credibility of data on air performance and energy consumption for EC fans

Ziehl-Abegg, a manufacturer of ventilation systems, has received endorsement from AMCA, the not-for-profit association that monitors standards and certifications of ventilation technology systems worldwide. The AMCA seal of approval has been given to the consistent credibility of the manufacturer’s data on air performance and energy consumption for EC fans.

Headquartered in Künzelsau, Germany, the company is known to operate the world’s largest combined test chamber for fans.

Commenting on the achievement, Peter Fenkl, Ziehl-Abegg CEO, said: “This is a tribute to our long-term commitment to the reliability and accuracy of measurement data. The certification of the EC fans is a great counterpart to the long awarded certification of the company’s AC products. Both certifications attest to Ziehl-Abegg’s position as a technological leader in aerodynamic and energy-saving fans."

Ziehl-Abegg produces fans made of steel, aluminium and plastic. Its product line features a high level of vertical integration in manufacturing. The fans are powered by external rotor motors with integrated control electronics; the external rotor technology was developed by the founder of the company, Emil Ziehl.

In many installation situations the individual measurement values for EC motor and ventilator can no longer be measured as they become lost in the overall system. “This is why we have been operating the world's largest combined measurement and test chamber for fans in Künzelsau since 2008,” said the CEO.

Ziehl-Abegg employs 2,200 personnel in its production plants in southern Germany. The company has a global workforce of 3,900 spanning 16 production plants, 28 subsidiaries and 108 sales locations. Its products, approximately 30,000 in all, are sold in more than 100 countries. Turnover in 2017 totaled US$625 million with exports accounting for three quarters of the figure.

Air Movement and Control Association International, Inc. (AMCA) is an independent, international and non-commercial organisation that develops, establishes and monitors standards and certifications for ventilation technology equipment and applications. The association was originally formed just to serve the US and later expanded on the international level. The AMCA now represents 330 members from 34 countries.
