Zollner Elektronik opens facility in Silicon Valley

The 22,730 sqft facility was purchased to have cleanroom production space for the company’s complex mechatronic systems

Zollner Elektronik AG has opened a second location in Silicon Valley in the US.

Part of Zollner’s strategy for the future is to expand its technological capabilities in the area of Box Build and to have a cleanroom for production that meets ISO standards. However, the space the US affiliate of Zollner assumed in Milpitas 7 years ago when coming to California, was full of equipment for ongoing work. So the company decided the time had come to expand the 50,267 sqft facility in Silicon Valley.

With the valley area booming economically, and good, clean manufacturing space close to Milpitas hard to find, this presented a challenge to the complex mechatronic systems provider. Buildings were either too big, too small or just not the right mix of office and manufacturing space.

As a result, Zollner expanded their search and found a suitable building in neighbouring Fremont, home to Tesla, just 4.7 miles away.

A new building was chosen and leased, in the Bayside Business Park, and with 22,730 sqft of space and a 30:70 ratio of office to manufacturing space, it has the right balance. The production building is also close to Interstate 880, the binding freeway, making it easily accessible.
