Disposable safety monitor from Dräger

Dräger Safety has launched the X-am 1100 Personal Air Monitor that provides up to 120 days detection of explosive gases and vapours, including diesel fumes, as well as oxygen, carbon monoxide and hydrogen sulphide.

The lightweight instrument can simply be disposed of after use, making it a cost-effective alternative to a rental device, Dräger says.

The unit is designed for intuitive operation and features a two-key control panel and menu guidance system, and a liquid crystal display which provides all readings quickly.

Incorporating the latest miniaturised XXS generation of electrochemical DrägerSensors, the inclusion of a catalytic Ex sensor, calibrated to methane, means that the monitor can provide improved safety when facing unknown hazards. The sensor responds quickly to explosive gases and offers a high level of sensitivity to combustible organic vapours, ensuring warnings in the event of explosive hazards.

Gas inlets on both the top and front provide a reliable warning if placed in a jacket pocket against gas hazards. An audio, visual and vibrating alarm are issued when the monitor detects any explosive gases. The unit is dust and water-resistant to IP67, and able to withstand electromagnetic interference.

The X-am 1100 can be used with either the standard alkaline or optional NINH or T4 rechargeable batteries.

Equipped with a data logger as standard, the unit allows data such as alarms, errors and the results of function tests to be transmitted via infrared interface to a PC. The data can then be analysed using the DrägerGas Vision software.
