Once complete, the new unit will treble the company’s cleanroom floor space

A new 2,000m2 manufacturing facility has been under construction for UK-based pharmaceutical products manufacturer Bath ASU on a site at Park Lane alongside its existing premises at Corsham Science Park in Wiltshire, UK. Once complete, the new unit will treble the company’s cleanroom floor space. It is being constructed using micro-rib Kingspan panels, with the insulation being upgraded to ensure maximum energy efficiency.

Bath ASU provides a complete range of aseptic manufacturing services including patient specific chemotherapy, dose banded batch chemotherapy, central intravenous additive service (CIVAS), patient-controlled analgesia products (PCA) as well as total parenteral nutrition (TPN). The company provides a flexible service, complementing existing provisions and assisting NHS Trusts and private hospitals in addressing their work load, costs and planning demands.

Bath ASU was originally founded in June 2000 at the University of Bath, from where it supplied cytotoxic doses to NHS and private hospitals via third party suppliers. The company secured a MHRA manufacturing ‘specials’ licence at its inception. The pharmaceutical company was looking to expand when a greenfield site adjacent to it became available. The new manufacturing facilities are due to be commissioned by early summer.

The project is being carried out by main contractors John Yerbury Property Developments, of Somerset, and the planning consultant was the Pegasus Group.
