William Tracey Group (WTG), a UK-based recycling and resource management firm, has formed a partnership with Shasun Pharma Solutions of Dudley Cramlington, Northumberland with the aim of expanding its customer base in the north-east of England.

The two companies have invested in Shasun’s existing biological treatment plant based at Dudley, which was designed to treat pharmaceutical waste and is suitable for a range of waste streams in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries. The facility is said to offer a safe alternative treatment for many materials that would have traditionally been incinerated, making it environmentally and commercially beneficial.

The partnership merges Shasun’s pharmaceutical knowledge with WTG’s biological treatment expertise. The systems and processes of the treatment operation are consistent with Shasun’s existing FDA approved standards.

‘Working together we have opened up our world class treatment facility situated on our Dudley, Cramlington site to other industries in and around the north-east,’ said Kevin Cook, president of Shasun Pharma Solutions. ‘This will provide a good environmental solution for the treatment of complex aqueous waste streams and hopefully offer some cost advantage to the local business community as well.’

‘We believe this type of partnership is good for both companies and will be looking to work with the William Tracey Group on other projects which offer environmental as well as business benefits to Shasun,’ added Michael Tracey, md of William Tracey Group.
