Polish cleanroom specialist BT Cleanroom has delivered a quality control laboratory for a manufacturing site in Szamotuły

BT Cleanroom has completed the design and construction of a new quality control laboratory at the ADM Sp. z o.o. site in Szamotuły, Poland.

ADM Sp. z o.o. is the Polish subsidiary of Archer Daniels Midland, operating manufacturing and processing facilities in Poland focused on food ingredients, agricultural products, and related materials.

Specialists from Bart Sp. z o.o. designed and constructed the building, including laboratory, office, and social spaces, along with all accompanying installations.

BT Cleanroom was responsible for the comprehensive cleanroom scope, including architectural elements, HVAC systems, and cleanroom finishes.

BT Cleanroom Engineering is part of Bart Sp. z o.o., with both divisions belonging to the larger BT Industrial Solutions Group.

Design features of the site

The laboratory was designed to meet stringent environmental and operational requirements for quality control processes, where contamination control, repeatability, and regulatory compliance are critical.

The project included the design and construction of:

  • electricity, water, and sewage systems
  • a steel structure for sandwich panel walls
  • external and partition walls using drywall technology
  • electrical installations including LAN, SSP, primary and emergency lighting
  • a gas detection system integrated with emergency ventilation
  • full ventilation and air conditioning of all rooms, including fume hoods and local exhaust systems above workstations

The facility supports laboratory testing operations for ADM’s manufacturing activities and was developed to ensure stable environmental conditions, controlled airflow, and compliance with relevant cleanroom and laboratory standards.

Dedicated laboratory areas were constructed with cleanroom-grade materials and surfaces to facilitate effective cleaning and minimise particulate and microbial contamination.

HVAC systems were engineered to provide controlled air exchange, filtration, and pressure regimes suitable for quality control laboratories.

BT Cleanroom’s scope also included integrating technical installations required for laboratory workflows, ensuring cleanroom performance met the operational requirements of laboratory staff.

Other projects

This project adds to BT Cleanroom’s growing portfolio of laboratory and cleanroom installations across Poland, spanning the pharmaceutical, chemical, and industrial sectors.

In February, the company adapted an existing production area into a 1,770 sqm ISO Class 8 cleanroom for HTL-STREFA in Łęczyca, including material and personnel airlocks, buffer corridors, and supporting technical rooms to meet stringent controlled-environment standards.

The company also served as general contractor on SyVento BioTech’s Biotechnology Research and Development Center, completing a 1,200 sqm GMP pharmaceutical cleanroom with associated lab, warehouse, and technical spaces, finished in late 2023.
