Particles Plus® is proud to introduce the 6000 Series Portable Particle Counter, a next-generation instrument designed for modern cleanroom monitoring and environmental validation. Purpose-built for demanding contamination-controlled environments, the 6000 Series combines laboratory-grade measurement precision with true portability and ease of use.
Portable particle counters are fundamental tools of the cleanroom industry, generating the data used to classify controlled environments. Despite their name, however, they are rarely used portably. In practice, most units function as static sampling instruments moved from point to point, with users relying on simple start-and-stop sampling to collect time-averaged particle counts.
While this approach satisfies classification requirements, it provides limited insight into how contamination events actually occur. Traditional particle counters report averaged concentrations over defined intervals, often masking short-duration events such as airflow disturbances, personnel movement, or equipment-related contamination. As a result, users can confirm that a problem exists but gain little understanding of its origin.
The Particles Plus 6000 Series was engineered to change this. Developed through a ground-up design approach, the instrument integrates a fully in-house pump system, sensor block, and data-processing platform. High-performance controllers, graphics processors, high-speed programmable logic, and intelligent peripherals work together to deliver industry-leading detection speed, processing capability, and real-time visualisation within a portable platform.
At the core of this innovation is Particles Plus Real-Time Monitoring technology. The system detects and processes particle events at rates up to 250,000 times per second while maintaining full ISO-compliant particle counting. In addition to traditional concentration data, the instrument displays particles in real time as particles-per-second (PPS), broken down by size channel.
This enables a fundamental shift in data interpretation. Instead of relying solely on time-averaged results, users can observe particle behaviour as it happens. Transient events appear immediately as identifiable spikes, allowing contamination sources to be located and understood in real time.
Beyond real-time monitoring, the 6000 Series measures particles from 0.3 or 0.5 to 25 µm across six calibratable channels, with support for additional user-defined channels. A proprietary sensor design delivers a minimum signal-to-noise ratio of 6:1—three times the typical industry standard—enabling improved sizing accuracy and analytical flexibility.
These capabilities are supported by a vertically integrated engineering approach, including in-house electronics, firmware, and sensor design. This control over core technology allows Particles Plus to offer an industry-only lifetime warranty on the hardware platform.
The result is a portable particle counter that moves beyond compliance. By combining ISO particle counting with high-speed real-time detection and advanced sensor performance, the 6000 Series transforms the portable counter into a dynamic cleanroom diagnostic tool—delivering faster insight, improved troubleshooting, and a deeper understanding of contamination behaviour.
