The 3C and Medtec shows are preparing to open their doors in Birmingham in May

Moving from early April to 23–24 May, the shows Medtec and 3C are gearing up for the annual medical and engineering gathering at the NEC.

This year, the two UK exhibitions are again co-located with the Midlands Design & Manufacturing and Mtec, Sensors, Measurement & Instrumentation shows. This gathering delivers more than 2,500 engineers, managers and decision-makers from the UK and Ireland’s growing medical device and pharma manufacturing sectors.

With the heavy reliance on manufacturing in cleanroom conditions, the medical device show is a perfect backdrop to the 3C (Contamination Control & Cleanroom) Products exhibition.

A co-located two-day conference covering medical device research, design, project management, regulatory approval, IP protection and CE Mark approval also attracts an international medical device audience.

In the wake of the PIP breast implant scandal, there will also be a special briefing on the likely changes to the current regulatory system. The expert briefing team, led by Mika Reinikainen, Abnovo, includes: Dr Gert Bos, BSi Healthcare; Philippe Auclair, Pharmacist, Abbott Vascular International; Dr Peter W J Linders, Global Quality & Regulatory; and Graeme Tunbridge of the MHRA.

Medtech and 3C will also offer a series of free show-floor presentations aimed at the medical and cleanroom sectors.

Among the 3C exhibitors already confirmed are: Cleanroom Solutions, Guardline Technology, GWP Protective, Micronova, Nitritex, Sara and Shield Medicare. Medtec, meanwhile, includes companies such as Isotron, Riverside Medical Packaging and Steripak.
