Basan UK relocates and invests to cope with expansion

Basan UK has expanded its storage facilities and invested in two new cleanrooms to improve customer service.

Having outgrown its current location in Macclesfield, Cheshire, the company is moving its logistics centre to new and larger facilities in Basingstoke, Hampshire.

The new headquarters building takes up two warehouse units and doubles storage capacity. The addition of the cleanrooms will help the company’s fast-growing packing and irradiation services.

“Our new ISO Class 5 and ISO Class 7 cleanrooms will mean we can offer additional services as well as significantly increase capacity,” said owner and md Russ Bird. “Cleanroom packing and irradiation of products for customers has become a significant growth area for us.”

With more than 25 years’ experience in the cleanroom industry, Bird has seen plenty of changes in the market.

“When I started up the UK business in 2003 it was with the intention of offering customers something more than just another distribution company. We truly believe in working with both customers and suppliers in a partnership. We always aim to not just meet their changing needs but exceed their expectations,” he said.

This approach seems to be working as the company has continued to grow year-on-year since its inception.

Basan expects to complete the move by the end of April 2009 and is forecasting continued growth.
