Cleanroom professionals will be on hand to advise on contamination control for the production of medical devices and components

Connect 2 Cleanrooms and cleanroomshop.com are exhibiting at Mediplas 2012, a new event focusing on the highly specialised area of manufacturing plastic parts for the medical industry.

The company’s stand (Hall 3A, Stand N21) will house a fully functional class 6 modular cleanroom and will be manned by cleanroom professionals who will be on hand to advise on contamination control for the production of medical devices and components, giving people the benefit of their experience and industry knowledge.

Plastics production for the medical industry is a rapidly expanding market, with a diverse range of applications for polymers. From single use disposable pipette tips to life-long artificial implants, the medical industry relies heavily on plastics manufacturing and distribution. For many manufacturers, inherent long-term contracts are on offer due to the high cost of swapping suppliers, and these prove to be highly attractive and lucrative opportunities.

The Mediplas exhibition, which takes place on 25–26 September at the NEC, Birmingham, UK, will cover all areas of the medical plastics supply chain:

  • Cleanroom machinery (extrusion and injection moulding)
  • Design and prototyping
  • Materials
  • Process control and sensing
  • Mould making and temperature control
  • End of line/assembly, regulation
  • Contract manufacturing

Mediplas differentiates itself from general plastics shows, as it brings to the forefront the aspects and considerations of medical device manufacturing that do not feature in production for other industries. Furthermore, it is distinct from existing medical device shows because it specialises in plastics - the new material of choice as bio-compatible plastics and polymer compounds continue to replace metal and ceramics in all industries, especially medical.

Running concurrently alongside Mediplas will be TCT Live, MM Live UK 2012, NANO Live 2012, MEMS Live 2012.
