EcoSys has announced plans to nearly double its cleanroom capacity by the end of 2026 to ease production bottlenecks in its ultra-high-purity (UHP) fabrication business.
Managing Director Chan Chee Wei announced the expansion following the company's debut on Bursa Malaysia's ACE Market on 14 October.
“Our cleanroom size will almost double. Hopefully, the whole project will be completed by the end of this year,” Chan told reporters at a press conference, which was covered by The Edge Malaysia.
The cleanroom has been operating at full capacity for more than a year, limiting EcoSys's ability to fulfil orders for precision engineering components and sub-assembly modules used in semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
The expansion is intended to increase output, allowing the company to serve existing customers and take on new business.
Supporting semiconductor manufacturing
EcoSys provides engineering solutions for the semiconductor and solar photovoltaic (PV) industries through two business segments: UHP fabrication and gas-abatement systems.
Its UHP business manufactures precision components and sub-assembly modules for equipment manufacturers, foundries and other industrial customers.
The company began full operations at its new factory in Simpang Ampat, Penang, in 2025.
The facility supports both business segments, although EcoSys has not confirmed whether the cleanroom being expanded is located there.
Chan also said during the press conference that nearly half of the orders received by EcoSys's gas-abatement business in each quarter of 2026 had come from new customers.
Abatement capacity also set to expand
EcoSys is also increasing assembly and testing capacity for its gas-abatement systems, which treat potentially harmful gases generated during semiconductor and solar PV manufacturing before they are released into the atmosphere.
The additional capacity is intended to prepare for anticipated demand in 2027.
The company is also developing new solutions and technologies with existing customers for potential introduction in the first half of next year.
IPO proceeds to support expansion
EcoSys made its ACE Market debut on 14 October, with shares opening at RM0.70 (about $0.17), approximately 159% above the IPO price.
EcoSys raised RM39.34m (about $9.64m) through its initial public offering (IPO).
According to the company’s IPO announcement, RM17m (about $4.17m) of the proceeds was earmarked for expanding its gas-abatement systems business, while RM8m ($1.96m) was allocated to repaying bank borrowings.
A further RM4.93m (about US$1.21m) was allocated to strengthening operational capabilities through machinery purchases and team expansion.
The company also earmarked RM1.54m (about $377,000) for establishing a sales and service centre in India, RM2.36m (about $578,000) for working capital and RM5.5m (about $1.35m) for listing expenses.
The IPO proceeds are intended to support EcoSys’s broader expansion and operational requirements.
However, the company has not separately disclosed how much funding will be used for the cleanroom project.
