US-based monitoring expert EdgeX has launched monitoring "nodes" for ORs and pharmacy cleanrooms

EdgeX has announced the commercial launch of two applications for environmental monitoring.

Sense8 monitors and records temperature, humidity and pressure differentials to ensure regulatory compliance for operating rooms and pharmacy cleanrooms.

Visual USP provides documentation of required tasks and staff competencies for USP 797/800 compliance.

With these two applications combined, EdgeX is the only USP compliance solution provider to fully integrate live environmental monitoring data directly into documentation software through its proprietary wireless EdgeX Network, providing more efficient and better automated documentation for USP 797/800.

“The EdgeX Network has proven to be an incredibly valuable tool. It leverages the powerful combination of wire-free hardware and user-friendly software interfaces. EdgeX provides us with continuous surveillance, predictive analytics and an accountability framework that has helped us improve the quality of care for our patients,” said Dr William Akrawi, MD, anesthesiologist at Mission Viejo Surgery Center.

EdgeX offers the only Real Time Location System (RTLS) network that requires no capital expense during installation. All data is uploaded in a secure fashion through a private, wire-free cellular backhaul with minimal hospital IT resources required. With simple peel-and-stick tracking tags and anchor nodes, the EdgeX Network can be easily installed within hours with no cabling or wiring needed.

“Sense8 and Visual USP are just the first of many helpful healthcare solutions that can be enabled through smart RTLS. At EdgeX we are already planning future solutions on asset, inventory, patient and staff tracking,” said Tim Gibbons, CEO of EdgeX.
