Getinge has launched the GEW 888 neo. This new cGMP washer was designed to develop cleanroom efficiency in the biopharmaceutical industry

Getinge, a medical technology company, has launched GEW 888 neo.

This new cGMP washer was built to meet the strictest demands of the biopharmaceutical industry and it enables the maximisation of cleanroom space.

This new launch follows as Getinge announced in February that it will be the first medtech company to move into the growing St Modwen Park Derby, UK.

Cleanroom space is a valuable commodity in any biopharmaceutical company, and the design of the GEW 888 neo addresses this challenge.

By combining a smaller footprint with exceptional washing capacity, the washer empowers biopharmaceutical companies to optimise their installation and make the most of their cleanroom facilities.

Robert Hohner, Product Line Manager Life Science washers at Getinge, said: “One of the features of the GEW 888 neo is its ability to deliver sustainable performance while ensuring high-quality cleaning results.”

The GEW 888 neo features a I-O link system

“With reduced water and utility consumption, the washer not only contributes to a better environment but also offers a reduction in operating costs. Its robust construction and use of high-quality components guarantee a long lifetime of use, minimising downtime and providing a low total cost of ownership,” Hohner explained.

The GEW 888 neo embraces user-centric design since the positioning of the intuitive touchscreen control interface and the addition of the loading rack identification & AutoStart system enhance operator handling, ensuring safe and efficient operation within the cleanroom environment.

The interface supports present industry demands and allows for seamless adaptation to evolving requirements. Its vertical space saving sliding door enables an ergonomic loading/unloading of the loading rack.

The loading rack identification & AutoStart system guarantees that the correct validated programme is preselected, or automatically started when the loading has been finalised.

The identification will also be logged on the batch report and audit trail to secure traceability.

The GEW 888 neo enables customers to maximise on cleanroom space

“In addition to its compact size and sustainable performance, the GEW 888 neo enables high throughput and reliability in cleaning operations. Its washing capacity guarantees efficient processing of production equipment, components, and glassware,” Hohner further explained.

“The state-of-art patented single pass rinse ensures optimal performance with very low consumption of Water for Injection (WFI). With the new innovative technical solution, we can perform multiple rinses at the final or pre-rinse phase. The flexibility implemented is very valued by our customers,” Hohner concluded.

Further, the GEW 888 neo features a I-O link system, which is a communication protocol for sensors and actuators connected via fieldbus connections.

The I-O link system was introduced into the GEW 888 neo to combat the issue of downtime, which poses a significant challenge for production lines.

“This enables communication in event of errors and contribute with less wiring. In addition, the system can be easily adapted if further future functionality would be requested. Overall, the I-O link system will ensure higher uptime of the washer with a higher level of monitoring,” Hohner said.

The GEW 888 neo was built to meet the strictest demands of the biopharmaceutical industry

“Our GEW 888 neo represents advancement in cleanroom washer technology. Its compact design, sustainable performance, and excellent washing capacity empower our customers to optimise their cleanroom operations and achieve unparalleled efficiency,” Hohner concluded.

The launch of the GEW 888 neo underscores Getinge's commitment to driving progress and innovation in the life science industry, delivering solutions that address customer needs.
