Two more clean room ultra clean (UCV) theatres have been added to The Golden Jubilee National Hospital in Clydesbank, Scotland, bringing the hospital’s total to 14.

The additions, which are part of the hospital’s orthopaedic expansion, aim to alleviate some of the waiting time delays patients currently face.

The planned care hospital has no accident and emergency unit and yet receives referrals from across the country. As a result, some patient procedures can be subject to delay.

The Howorth Exflow Ultra Clean canopies ensure that theatres are suitable for orthopaedic surgery and procedures in which post-operative infection is an issue. Howorth has also provided four theatre panels with PACS viewing systems instead of the usual x-ray viewers; this enables patient records to be called up during the operation.

The main contractor was SCS Building Services, a subsidiary company of T Clarke (London), one of Scotland’s leading providers of Electrical, Mechanical and associated services to the healthcare industry.

The hospital, which is part of the National Waiting Times Centre, is Scotland’s flagship hospital for reducing patient waiting times.
