Symbiosis Pharmaceutical Services (Symbiosis) has appointed Jos Vergeest as Senior Business Development Director, bringing three decades of commercial pharmaceutical experience to support the company's international growth ambitions.
Headquartered in Stirling, Scotland, Symbiosis is a specialist aseptic fill-finish Contract Development and Manufacturing Organisation (CDMO), manufacturing injectable medicines for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies for clinical trials and commercial supply.
Having spent fifteen years in sales, marketing and management roles at GSK and AstraZeneca, he then moved into contract development and manufacturing with HALIX, supporting its growth from start-up to mid-sized CDMO. His most recent position was with Wacker Biotech, where he was responsible for Business Development activities in Europe and Asia.
Vergeest commented: “Pharmaceutical companies are looking for CDMOs that offer real partnerships, which means understanding their needs, thinking alongside them and providing genuine flexibility, responsiveness and open communication. For me, business development is about building the trust that allows us to solve challenges together.”
His first-hand experience of supporting a specialist CDMO’s scale-up aligns closely with Symbiosis building on a £26 million investment programme, which has expanded its sterile manufacturing capacity for larger-scale clinical and commercial programmes.
Based in the Netherlands, Jos will work closely with the wider Symbiosis team to establish new strategic partnerships, cement existing client relationships and ensure market and customer insight continues to inform Symbiosis’ growth plans across the Benelux and DACH regions.
