Critical Environment Solutions Ltd (CES), a leading cleanroom consumables distributor across the UK and Ireland, has announced an important leadership transition that marks both a celebration of long-standing service and an exciting step forward for the business.
After an outstanding 25 years of dedicated service, Managing Director Andy Holbrook will begin a phased retirement throughout the remainder of 2026. Andy’s tenure has been instrumental in shaping CES into the trusted, customer-focused partner it is today within the cleanroom and controlled environment sector.
Honouring a Legacy of Leadership
Andy Holbrook’s contribution to CES cannot be overstated. Over a quarter of a century, he has guided the company through significant growth, evolving market demands, and industry advancements while maintaining a clear commitment to quality, reliability, and customer service.
Under Andy’s leadership, CES has strengthened its position as a key distributor in the cleanroom technology space, supporting industries ranging from pharmaceuticals and life sciences to microelectronics and advanced manufacturing. His steady stewardship has ensured that CES consistently delivers “YOUR CLEANROOM. OUR MISSION.” — a principle that remains at the heart of the company’s ethos.
The phased approach to Andy’s retirement will allow for a smooth and structured transition, ensuring continuity for customers, partners, and employees alike while enabling knowledge transfer and ongoing strategic alignment.
A Strong Leadership Team for the Future
Looking ahead, CES is delighted to confirm that the business will be led by National Sales Manager Jenny Thornton alongside newly appointed General Manager Danny Williams.
This strengthened leadership team combines deep industry understanding with fresh operational expertise, positioning CES for continued growth and innovation within the cleanroom sector.
Jenny Thornton brings 11 years of extensive commercial leadership and a strong track record within the cleanroom industry, ensuring continuity in customer relationships and market strategy. Her deep understanding of client needs and sector dynamics will be pivotal as CES continues to expand its reach and reinforce its reputation for excellence, and she is also due to complete the Senior Leadership Executive Programme (CMI Level 7) at Cranfield University in 2026.
Welcoming Danny Williams as General Manager
CES is equally excited to welcome Danny Williams to the team as General Manager. Danny joins with a wealth of engineering, operational, and leadership experience across both large multinational organisations and agile SME environments.
Danny holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Brighton and began his career at GKN Aerospace in 2012, where he progressed from Graduate Engineer into a series of Operations and Programme Management roles over more than seven years. This early experience provided a strong technical and operational foundation within highly regulated manufacturing environments.
Danny brings a strong blend of commercial and operational leadership experience across both SME and manufacturing environments. He has successfully led business growth through diversification and strategic contract development, while also overseeing complex, cross-functional teams spanning engineering, sales, and production.
His background includes senior leadership of a technical product division, where he drove product development, branding, and innovation, as well as hands-on experience transforming underperforming businesses. He is particularly recognised for his ability to streamline operations, strengthen organisational structures, and guide companies back to sustainable profitability, all while supporting team growth and development.
Positioned for Continued Success
With this new leadership structure, CES is entering an exciting new chapter. The combined strengths of Jenny Thornton and Danny Williams—supported by the management team and the enduring legacy and transitional guidance of Andy Holbrook—provide a powerful platform for future success.
CES will continue to operate independently while reporting to its parent company, Micronclean Ltd, maintaining its focus as a leading cleanroom consumables distributor across the UK and Ireland. The business remains committed to delivering high-quality solutions, technical expertise, and exceptional service to customers operating in critical environments.
Looking Ahead
As CES celebrates Andy Holbrook’s remarkable career and prepares for the future, the organisation does so with confidence, energy, and a clear strategic vision.
This transition is not just a change in leadership—it is a continuation of CES’s mission, strengthened by new perspectives and driven by the same commitment to excellence that has defined the company for decades.
The future for CES is full of opportunity, and the journey continues.
