MBV has launched a new instrument that automates the changing of settle plates, MAS-100 Libra (registered trademark).
Even in highly automated pharmaceutical processes, changing of settle plates requires manual intervention. However, these interrupt the process and increase the risk of contamination.
Founded in 1985, the Switzerland-based expert in microbial air sampler, has developed the new instrument to improve cost efficiency and productivity in monitoring activities.
The lids are lifted off fully automatically, the plate is exposed to the air, then closed again and the next plate is used
The new instrument is suitable for ISO 14644-1 Class 5 / GMP Grade A and portable use in Grade B-D cleanrooms.
How does it automate monitoring?
EU GMP Annex 1 stipulates continuous monitoring of the air for cleanroom class A.
Among other things, this is done using standard settle plates, which have to be changed manually every 4 hours.
This leads to regular interruptions to production and, in the worst case, operating errors and cross-contamination. It can even result in the loss of the entire batch.
This is exactly where MAS-100 Libra comes in. Filled with up to 6 standard settle plates, MAS-100 Libra samples for 24 hours without any manipulations.
The lids are lifted off fully automatically, the plate is exposed to the air, then closed again and the next plate is used.
This automation reduces both interventions in the cleanroom and production interruptions and leads to enhanced productivity while cutting costs.
Deviations caused by exposure times that are too long or too short are eliminated
Furthermore, deviations caused by exposure times that are too long or too short are eliminated and the measurement results are 100% comparable and reproducible.
“With MAS-100 Libra, implementing a Contamination Control Strategy becomes much easier, as does complying with the requirements of EU GMP Annex 1”, explained Ronny Zingre, CEO of MBV.
The company says the compact system is easy to integrate into the isolator HMI (Human Machine Interface) or can also be used as a portable stand-alone solution.
In the upcoming months, MAS-100 Libra will be presented to an expert audience at trade fairs and conferences.
“For personal live or online demonstrations, we look forward to receiving your contact enquiry,” the company stated.
