Freudenberg Medical expands silicone operations in California

Expansion increases the company’s silicone extrusion capacity by more than 50% and ensures long-term competitiveness for low, medium and high volume silicone extrusion projects


Freudenberg Medical, a global developer and manufacturer of specialty components and minimally invasive solutions for the medical device and pharmaceutical industry, announces the expansion and enhancement of its extrusion and moulding cleanrooms at the company’s silicone operations in Carpinteria (California, USA).

The cleanroom enhancement project includes floor expansion, updated layout and optimised workcells to accommodate future growth, along with state-of-the-art cleanroom infrastructure technology. The extrusion cleanroom now complies with ISO Class 7 guidelines.

‘This project has increased our silicone extrusion capacity by more than 50% and ensures our long-term competitiveness for low, medium and high volume silicone extrusion projects,’ said Dr Mark Ostwald, VP and General Manager of Freudenberg Medical in Carpinteria. ‘Our redesigned cleanroom will substantially improve our lead times while maintaining our tradition of outstanding quality, which adds value for both current as well as new customers.’

The silicone extrusion cleanroom in Carpinteria also accommodates the following value-added services: post curing, complex braiding and preforming, high precision cut-to-length, pigmented/striped tubing, barium sulfate mixing, laser marking, pad printing, packaging, assembly of tubing sets and many other services.
