A cost-saving, greener cleaning solution marketed by Trustwater has received the Best New Bottling, Manufacturing or Production Technology Innovation award at the major US beverage manufacturing show, InterBev 2010.

The award recognised Trustwater’s innovative, on-site ECA generating technology that replaces traditional caustics and sanitisers for a wide variety of cleaning applications. This sustainable solution can reduce CIP water use by up to 50%, reduce CIP cycle times by up to 75%, and provide energy savings of up to 60%.

Electro-Chemical Activation (ECA) is the process of passing natural salt water through an electrolytic cell, creating two distinct solutions; an Ecasol sanitiser and an Aversol caustic detergent. The Ecasol sanitiser is pH neutral and is comprised of hypochlorous acid, which is 100 times more effective than sodium hypochlorite, the primary chemical used in traditional sanitisers. The Aversol caustic detergent is produced at an alkaline pH of 13.5 and is a potent antioxidant. Both solutions are completely non-toxic and non-hazardous to humans and to the environment.

The patented Trustwater AQ Series is a self-contained, compact ECA generator capable of producing both the Ecasol sanitiser and the Aversol caustic detergent on-site, on-demand.

Trustwater is working in partnership with Sani-Matic, a company that automates sanitary process cleaning for a variety of industries including meat and poultry, dairy, beverage, pharmaceutical, biotech, and personal care.
