ABC Transfer has appointed BioStream as its exclusive distributor in South Korea, expanding its distribution network for rapid transfer port solutions.
The partnership will provide pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical manufacturers in the country with local commercial and technical support for ABC Transfer’s portfolio of aseptic transfer technologies.
ABC Transfer, a member of the SKAN Group, said the appointment supports its continued international expansion while bringing its engineering and sales expertise closer to customers in the South Korean market.
South Korea has a significant pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical manufacturing base, including major manufacturers and contract development and manufacturing organisations (CDMOs), with continued investment in production technologies and aseptic manufacturing facilities.
The company said evolving regulatory requirements, including the implementation of EU GMP Annex 1 principles, are increasing demand for contamination-control solutions and local technical expertise.
RTP portfolio
Under the agreement, BioStream will promote and support ABC Transfer’s complete range of RTP technologies in South Korea.
The portfolio includes Classic and Gloveless Alpha Ports, stainless-steel and polyethylene Beta Containers, Betacleanbag single-use transfer bags, the ULTRA system, accessories and integrity-testing solutions.
The systems are designed to enable the transfer of components, materials and products between controlled environments while maintaining the integrity of aseptic processes.
ABC Transfer said the technologies are intended to support contamination-control strategies by reducing the risk of contamination during material transfer in pharmaceutical manufacturing environments.
BioStream was established in 2000 and supplies products and services to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and life sciences sectors in South Korea.
Its activities include bioprocess consulting, facility planning, equipment supply, validation support, technical services and analytical solutions.
The company also represents SKAN in South Korea as a local agent, providing an existing link between the two organisations and experience of aseptic and high-containment manufacturing environments.
ABC Transfer will provide BioStream with product and commercial training, technical documentation, marketing resources and demonstration equipment as part of the partnership.
“We are delighted to welcome BioStream to the ABC Transfer distributor network,” said Thierry Girard, President of ABC Transfer.
He added that BioStream’s experience in the Korean pharmaceutical market and existing relationship with SKAN made it a suitable partner for representing ABC Transfer locally.
ABC Transfer’s expanding portfolio
The appointment follows ABC Transfer’s expansion of its international distributor network, including partnerships in other pharmaceutical markets.
The company has previously appointed exclusive distributors for its RTP portfolio in countries including Italy and Israel.
In May, ABC Transfer also partnered with Shanghai HanKing Instrument and Equipment to support the distribution of sterile transfer technologies in China.
