The France-based manufacturer of sterile transfer solutions has expanded the availability of its sterile transfer solutions through a distribution partnership in the UK and Northern Ireland

ABC Transfer, a France-based specialist in sterile transfer technologies, has expanded its pharmaceutical and biotechnology offering in the UK through a partnership with UK pharmaceutical containment provider Sychem.

Under the agreement, Sychem will support the supply, installation and qualification of ABC Transfer’s aseptic material transfer systems for use in controlled environments, including isolators and restricted access barrier systems (RABS), across the UK and Northern Ireland.

Sychem brings more than 40 years’ experience working with pharmaceutical manufacturers, laboratories and controlled-environment facilities.

The company will support the introduction and distribution of ABC Transfer’s rapid transfer system (RTS) portfolio, alongside consultancy, installation, UKAS-accredited validation, servicing and maintenance.

Sychem’s wider portfolio includes sterilisation technologies, washer-disinfectors, isolators and vapourised hydrogen peroxide (VHP) decontamination systems, with local technical support available throughout system integration, qualification and routine operation.

Support also extends to documentation, validation activities and lifecycle management within regulated manufacturing environments.

Sterile transfer technologies for pharma

ABC Transfer designs and manufactures a range of sterile transfer solutions for pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical production, including rapid transfer ports (RTPs), alpha and beta transfer components, ported sterile bags and gloveless transfer technologies.

Rapid transfer systems are commonly integrated into isolators or RABS to allow the safe transfer of tools, components and consumables without compromising containment.

The systems are designed to maintain seal integrity through repeated sterilisation cycles and routine use.

Sterile transfer technologies play a critical role in modern aseptic manufacturing, enabling materials to move between classified and unclassified areas while maintaining environmental segregation.

Their importance has increased as manufacturers respond to tighter regulatory requirements and greater process complexity, particularly in biologics and advanced therapy production.

ABC Transfer also offers a gloveless sterile transfer solution that enables materials to be introduced via sealed ported bags.

The approach is intended to reduce reliance on glove ports and minimise direct operator intervention, supporting contamination control strategies in aseptic processing.

Regulatory considerations

ABC Transfer’s systems are designed to support compliance with EU GMP Annex 1, with a focus on contamination control strategies and barrier technologies.

Design considerations include seal performance, resistance to chemical disinfectants and compatibility with common pharmaceutical sterilisation methods.
