Allied to build cleanroom for US Air Force
US-based Allied Modular Building Systems has been awarded the contract for construction of a Class 10000 cleanroom for the US military's C-17 Globemaster III and the F-22A Raptor programs.
The C-17 is the newest cargo aircraft in the country's airlift force, and the F-22A is the air force's latest and most technologically advanced fighter aircraft.
Allied will build the cleanroom according to particular project specifications and applications. The primary use of the cleanroom will be critical composite repairs of structural cracks on the C-17 transport fleet but will also include unspecified future operational uses for the F-22A essential to man and material supplies for the war effort in the Middle East and elsewhere.
Allied and its Environmental Application Division (EAD) is a preferred supplier to the US Armed Forces and NASA. The company says it was chosen for this project due to its advanced technical expertise, overall system strength and engineering specifications, including Seismic Zone 4 earthquake qualifications.
"We are particularly proud of our ongoing partnership with both producers and end-users of innovative and necessary American military defense technologies,” said Craig Wiener, EAD national manager at Allied.
