BBA Fiberweb introduces filtration media technology for dust applications

Published: 2-Feb-2005

BBA Fiberweb has introduced a variety of new filtration media. The new Reemay SP is engineered specifically for dust cartridge applications and special liquid filter applications, offering the strength of a polyester spunbond with a uniform surface that maximises dust cake release during cleaning cycles and resists surface penetration by particulates. The Allure brand polyester spunbond, with its filament size between that of conventional spunbonds and meltblowns, offers greater efficiency, spot-to-spot uniformity for heightened reliability, continuous filaments for reduced fibre migration, and added strength. ChemShield, designed with the help of government specified filter manufacturers, will provide a temporary reduction in the effects from a chemical release. It is built on the AQF technology platform, which uses bi-component fibres that anchor special grades of activated carbon granules in a 3-D fibrous matrix, while providing maximum access to the air stream. The Spirit nylon 6,6 spunbond, with a melting point of approximately 260°C, offers strength and uniformity alongside resistance to many chemicals and solvents, and can be used as a support scrim or a filter medium. Spirit is in the early stages of introduction and will be available in developmental quantities during the year.
