The testing equipment provider has launched the high-capacity 7406 Incubator Shaker, which includes dry hydrogen peroxide technology and the company has deemed it the first of its kind

Caron Scientific, a US-based provider of advanced environmental testing, incubation, and controlled environment equipment, has unveiled the 7406 Incubator Shaker.

The new offering is a big step for cell culture production environments.

The newly launched 7406 Incubator Shaker boasts the highest capacity for a single-chamber unit while maintaining the smallest footprint in its category.

The equipment’s vertical system design optimises laboratory and production floor space, while an integrated layout ensures uniform conditions across all system levels.

To mitigate the risk of contamination, traditional incubators typically employ either a high-heat decontamination cycle, which is time-consuming and necessitates an empty chamber, or a wet hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) vapour cycle, which can lead to condensation and puddling within the chamber.

Caron Scientific has innovated a dry H₂O₂ fogging sterilisation technology that prevents condensation formation.

A built-in humidity sensor continuously monitors vapour levels, while electronic control systems regulate injections to maintain a stable and effective concentration.

Jay Abramo, Chief Commercial Officer at Caron Scientific, highlighted the significance of this advancement, stating: “Ensuring successful suspension cell culture production runs is critical for our customers. Our Incubator Shaker utilises our dry H₂O₂ sterilisation technique, keeping the humidity level below saturation. This allows for immediate use of the incubator post-cycle, significantly reducing technician time and effort.”

Abramo further noted: “Caron Scientific is the first company to offer H₂O₂ sterilisation in incubator shakers, providing unmatched contamination control to help our customers avoid costly fines from regulatory agencies and prevent unwanted downtime. Unlike traditional incubator shakers, Caron’s humidity control system operates without any standing water, eliminating a major challenge for GMP manufacturing processes.”

With its in-unit sterilisation feature, the Caron Scientific 7406 Incubator Shaker enables laboratories to enhance efficiency, improve reliability, and maintain a contamination-free environment with greater confidence.
