Christ Water Technology gains its independence

Published: 16-Jan-2006

Christ Water Technology, headquartered in Mondsee, Austria, and until now a subsidiary of BWT Best Water Technology, has become an independent group of companies.

The management of the company remains in the hands of Dr Karl Michael Millauer, chairman, and Hartmut Gussmann, board member for the technology sector. The move reflects the differences in the business and investor structures of the two parties: while Christ is active in plant engineering, BWT's activities are concentrated on water technology products for private households, trade and small industrial users. The spin-off thus offers Christ flexibility to explore new markets, capital increases, strategic alliances and acquisitions. The product range for the various industrial sectors will be unaffected while the sales network is to be expanded. Millauer says the market has "enormous growth potential", and points to studies predicting 13% annual growth to €700m in 2007 in industrial treatment in Europe. Last year, the company achieved a turnover of €178m.
