CleanSeal finds a growing market in UK

A variety of new cleanroom and laboratory installations in the UK are using CleanSeals, manufactured by Carmetec, of Uppsala in Sweden, in their pipework.

Wormald Fire Systems is currently completing a sprinkler installation at a large Merck Sharp & Dohme facility at Hoddesden. More than 400 CleanSeal units are being installed in conjunction with their sprinkler heads. Meanwhile specialist contractor Crown House Technologies is installing a series of CleanSeals at Queen Mary's University School of Dentistry in Cat 3 laboratories due for completion in early 2005, and Medical Air Technology (MAT) has installed a series of CleanSeals in two phases of a contract to build containment level suites for Imperial College, London. Said to be quick and easy to install, the CleanSeal EPDM membrane, set between two stainless steel discs, provides a durable and airtight seal against differential air-pressure between rooms, as well as absorbing vibration and permitting any pipe movement up to 20mm without any loss of air-tightness. It also withstands high-pressure cleaning and all cleaning agents commonly used in the cleanroom industry. CleanSeals come in a variety of shapes and sizes. The circular range is supplied not only for the narrowest of lead-throughs, but also for pipes up to 1000mm and all diameters in between. There are 12 standard sizes for circular ducts, plus one size for square ducting. Non standard sizes are made as specials in 2-3 weeks. Similarly, rectangular CleanSeals are made to order; the largest ones produced to date measure 2000 x 2000mm. CleanSeal multi-duct plates can also be supplied for specific applications.
