Colder makes a connection
Colder Products Company, a provider of quick disconnect couplings to industrial, biopharmaceutical, medical, chemical, and packaging markets, offers a wide range of disposable products, including its Steam-Thru Connections for one-step steam-in-place processes between stainless and disposables.
Serving the dual function of valve and connector, its three-port design is said to eliminate unnecessary connection points, prevent "dead legs", reduce chances of contamination and minimise validation concerns. At the same time it saves time and expense by eliminating cleaning procedures and reducing validation issues associated with reusable components. The company says that it is ideal for use in feeding, cell harvesting and sampling applications. Colder's SaniQuik connection provides media transfer by linking between existing processing equipment and disposable tube sets, manifolds, and bag systems. Attaching directly to hard-plumbed systems, the connection's integral coupling adaptor provides the interface to disposable systems that incorporate Colder's MPC and MPX couplings. "Today's biopharmaceutical manufacturers are under pressure to improve production yields, decrease time to market and increase multi-product manufacturing within single facilities," said John Boehm, bioprocessing business unit manager. "In response to this they are increasingly incorporating disposable systems."
