UK-based air pollution control solutions company ERG is cementing its position in as a provider of air treatment technology with two new acquisitions.

The Horsham-based company, which specialises in hazardous waste flue gas cleaning systems, has bought the intellectual property rights the vortex scrubbing V-tex system. The air quality improvement technology from Accentus plc, uses process intensification techniques to treat gaseous waste streams and can remove more than 99% gaseous contaminants such as acid or alkali gasses, halogens.

ERG has also bought Air Pollution Control Process Engineering Ltd, which has over 35 years experience within the air pollution control market, offering turn-key systems and design consultancy to blue-chip clients across diverse processing industries, including Pfizer. In particular, the company has expertise in tray scrubbers, venturi scrubbers and high temperature quenches. The company’s two former directors, Alan Boyd and Mike Herbert, will continue to work for ERG on a consultancy basis.

Accentus’ managing director Philip Agg, said: ‘We are delighted to sell the V-tex technology rights to ERG. Since 2002, they have been a leading licensee of this technology, and the V-tex vortex is a perfect complement to their scrubbing technology portfolio. ERG is also strategically placed with an established client base and the reputation to be able to exploit the V-tex market potential’.

ERG managing director James Scott-Bowden, said: ‘With the addition of V-tex ownership to our range, we are now in a better position to meet some of the more demanding requirements of our clients at an economic level. V-tex is especially useful in confined spaces and where there are variable flow rates.’
